What drives the price

What glass replacement costs depend on

Glass pricing comes down to more than square footage — a cut-to-size pane is a very different job from a frameless shower wall. Here's what actually drives the cost of each. We measure and give you a firm, free quote on-site, and you approve it before anything starts.

Glass typeWhat affects the price
Single-pane window glassPane size and thickness, and whether it's clear or obscured glass.
Double-pane / insulated unit (IGU)Unit size, Low-E coating, and spacer — a glass-only swap costs far less than a whole new window.
Tempered safety glassSize, plus whether code requires tempering (near doors, stairs, and low sills).
Laminated / impact glassSize and the security/storm rating — laminated holds together when broken.
Glass tabletop (cut to size)Dimensions, thickness, and edge work (flat, polished, or beveled).
Emergency board-up + glassOpening size, height, and time of day; storm and impact breaks are often insured.

FAQ

Glass repair questions

  • How much does glass replacement cost in NJ?

It depends on the glass type, size, thickness, and edge work — a small cut-to-size pane is a very different job from a frameless shower wall or a laminated storefront unit. Rather than guess, we measure on-site and give you a firm, free quote before any work starts. The good news: most repairs are a glass-only swap that costs a fraction of full replacement, and multi-piece jobs batch into one trip to keep the per-piece price down.

  • My double-pane glass is foggy — do I replace the window or just the glass?

Just the glass, in almost every case. Fog between the panes means the insulated-glass-unit seal failed — the window itself is usually fine. We measure the sealed unit, fabricate a matching one (same Low-E coating and spacer), and swap it into your existing frame at a fraction the cost of a new window. We only recommend full replacement when the frame is rotted or failing too, and we'll tell you honestly which case you're in.

  • Can you replace broken glass the same day?

Often, yes — stock-size clear glass is frequently same-day during business hours, and we run 24/7 emergency dispatch from our Garfield shop for broken or shattered glass: board-up first to secure and weatherproof the opening, then the replacement glass once it's cut. Custom tempered or laminated units take a few business days to fabricate; we secure the opening in the meantime.

  • Do you cut glass to size?

Yes — cut-to-size is core to what we do. Tabletops, desk tops, shelves, cabinet glass, and replacement panes, in clear, low-iron, tempered, frosted, or tinted glass, with polished, beveled, or pencil edges. We template on-site for non-rectangular or exact-fit pieces so the finished glass drops right in.

  • Is your glass work guaranteed, and are you licensed?

Yes — we're an NJ Home Improvement Contractor (NJHIC #13VH13970900), fully insured, and our glass work is warrantied. We're rated 5.0 on Google across our review base, and we issue certificates of insurance same-day for commercial and property-management jobs.

  • Where do you provide glass repair and replacement?

All 21 NJ counties from our Garfield, Bergen County shop — same-day response in the core North Jersey counties (Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Hudson), next-day across most of central NJ, and scheduled two-day routes in South Jersey. We're often the closest glass shop to Garfield, Clifton, Passaic, Lodi, and the surrounding towns.
