Window Replacement NJ
New windows for your New Jersey home — vinyl, fiberglass, and clad-wood, in every style from double-hung to bay, casement, and specialty shapes. Free on-site measure, honest line-item quotes, and a clean install anywhere in the state.
Replacing your windows is the highest-return efficiency project most NJ homes can do — but only if the right window goes in the right opening and it's installed and flashed correctly. We install every major type, and from our Garfield shop we cover the entire state, with same-day measurement in the North Jersey counties.
Start by picking the window type below, or if a single window is just broken or foggy, a repair is usually the smarter spend — we'll tell you honestly which you need. Call (201) 275-9185 or use our cost calculator to plan the project.
Every style, replaced right
Standard replacement windows
Double-hung and slider replacements — the workhorse of an NJ window project. Insert or full-frame, measured to your existing openings.
Window InstallationEnergy-efficient replacements
Low-E, argon-filled insulated glass that cuts heating and cooling loss — the upgrade that pays back on North Jersey winters and humid summers.
Energy-Efficient WindowsVinyl window upgrades
Maintenance-free vinyl over tired wood or aluminum — the most common whole-house replacement we do, in white and custom colors.
Vinyl WindowsCasement & awning windows
Crank-out windows that seal tight and ventilate hard — the default for egress bedrooms and over-the-sink openings.
Casement & AwningBay & bow windows
Projecting multi-unit windows that add light and floor space — engineered, framed, and flashed for the added load.
Bay & Bow WindowsPicture & fixed windows
Large fixed lites for the view — no operating hardware to fail, so they hold their seal and insulation value longer than operable units.
Picture WindowsEgress window installation
Code-compliant basement and bedroom egress — net-clear-opening sized to NJ code, with window wells and drainage where needed.
Egress WindowsArchitectural & specialty shapes
Arched, round, trapezoid, and radius windows templated to the exact opening — the shapes a volume installer can't order off a shelf.
Specialty ShapesWhat drives replacement cost
| Number of openings | A single window and a whole-house replacement are very different jobs; multi-window projects batch into fewer trips. |
|---|---|
| Window style | Double-hung, casement, bay/bow, and specialty shapes each carry different unit and labor costs. |
| Material | Vinyl, fiberglass, and clad-wood sit at different price points and lifespans. |
| Glass package | Low-E coatings, argon fill, triple-pane, and laminated/impact glass each add performance and cost. |
| Insert vs. full-frame | Full-frame replacement (down to the rough opening) is more labor than an insert into a sound existing frame. |
| Access & size | Upper floors, oversized units, and tight interior access affect the install time. |
We don't publish flat prices because every home is different — you get a firm, free on-site quote, approved before any work starts. Plan a range with our cost calculator.
Window Replacement FAQ
How much does window replacement cost in New Jersey?+
There's no single number because the price is driven by how many windows, the style and material, the glass package, and whether it's an insert or full-frame install. What we can promise is the process: a free on-site measure, a written line-item quote, and your approval before anything is ordered or removed. Multi-window projects batch to keep the per-window price down.
How long does window replacement take?+
Most insert replacements run about 30–45 minutes per opening once the units are on hand, so a typical whole-house job is one to a few days depending on count. Full-frame replacement takes longer per window because of the tear-out, flashing, insulation, and trim. We schedule around your day and work opening-by-opening so the house is never left wide open.
Do I need a permit to replace windows in NJ?+
Usually yes if the opening size changes (for example, cutting in a larger egress unit) or you're replacing most of the windows in the house; same-size insert swaps on individual windows are often exempt. We pull the permit under our NJHIC license and coordinate the inspection so you don't have to file with the township yourself.
What's the difference between replacement and new-construction windows?+
Replacement (insert) windows are built to drop into an existing frame with the wall finishes left intact — the right call for a straight swap. New-construction windows have a nailing fin and go in when the wall is open (an addition, a resized opening, or down-to-studs work). We install both and tell you which your project actually calls for at the measure visit.
Do you install replacement windows near me?+
We install across all 21 New Jersey counties from our Garfield shop, with same-day measurement available in the core North Jersey counties (Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Hudson) and scheduled routes statewide. Tell us your town when you call and we'll give you a realistic timeline.
Should I repair or replace my windows?+
If the frame and sash are sound and only one part has failed — a fogged sealed unit, a snapped balance, a worn crank — a repair costs a fraction of replacement and is the honest answer. Replacement makes sense when frames are rotted, units are single-pane or badly drafty, or you want a whole-house efficiency upgrade. See our window repair hub if a fix is what you need, and we'll tell you which case you're in on-site.
