New Jersey's Uniform Construction Code (N.J.A.C. 5:23-2.7) treats replacing the glass in a window or door — and replacing a whole window or door in the same opening, without altering the opening's dimensions or framing — as ordinary maintenance: no permit, no inspection, no notice to the township. Storm windows and storm doors are included. Enlarging an opening is different, so we confirm scope with Pennsville's Construction Code Office first. The township has no historic-preservation ordinance layered on top of the state code.
Can the fogging in our ranch windows be cleared, or is that glass finished?
The unit is finished, but the window is not.
